Easter Letter

Dear Beloved in Christ

Once again we come to the most important Christian celebration in our Bible and in the Church Calendar. As we celebrate Jesus’ death and resurrection, we rejoice that in His mercy and kindness. God has seen fit to bring us into His glorious Kingdom through that specific, special, substitutionary and sacrificial death and resurrection.

On Resurrection Sunday, 1 April, our Gathering is at 9am. At this service we will have a video clip for the children, displaying the Biblical event for the day.

Please join us … and should you be traveling, please drive safely. Enjoy your weekend, remembering that this weekend is the most important event in history because it ushers in the New Creation.

Be blessed & loved in Jesus

Congregational Letter – 21 November 2017

Dear Folk

I trust you are well and blessed.
For me it has been almost three weeks with the flu virus, but for the most part I must say I feel so much better now. Thank you for your prayers.
Please note that the Church Council is calling for a Special Vestry Meeting (Congregational Meeting) after the 9am service on the 3 December 2017
The meeting is intended to last no more than 20 minutes.
The intention is to discuss the viability of having a Morning Market in the first or second quarter of 2018.
Your presence will be valued.
Is there anyone who would be able to collect the rosters from the Coordinators of the Ushers, Edesk, Flowers, Refreshments, Preaching, Leading, Reading, Creche and First Aid … and then put them together into one roster?
It is a tricky operation but someone with skills in Word / Office work ought not to struggle.
Please let me (Don) know as soon as possible please.
This annual event is always a highlight. Denise and her team will be putting this function on, on Sunday 26 November at 6pm.
Please join in and be part of a great evening of celebration.
We have run two streams of teaching students to be Early Childhood Development Teachers. One stream graduated at Christ Church Midrand. The other stream will be graduating at CCT on Sunday night, 3 December at 6pm. This is a formal event with People coming from Teachers Learning Centre (TLC) and The Love Trust (LoV).
Our intention is to have someone from TLC and LoV explain what they do as well as have a song item and a testimony from two students.
The key note speaker will be the facilitator, Lynn Logie. I will do a short Bible message and Hennie will be the MC.
We will have a light meal after the graduation. Students have been asked to bring along no more than 3 guests allowing place and catering for some of our congregation. You are welcome to be present.
On Sunday 10 December at 6pm we will have our Carol Service in the shape of a picnic on the lawn outside the Children’s Church House.
The idea is that everyone brings along something to share as a picnic.
Our Christmas Day Service is on Monday 25 December at 9am.
On 17, 24,31 December and 7 January 2018 there will be no evening service as many people will be away.
Be blessed as you serve Jesus as Lord and King

Letter to the Congregation – 29 September 2017

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Jesus                                             29 September 2017

Have you noticed how time flies? It’s almost Christian … again!

Some of you might remember our son Edwin. On Monday 25 September he turned 44. I can remember the night I needed to rush Jen to the Mowbray Maternity Home, almost at the foot of Table Mountain. It is crystal clear and vivid in my mind. It was the “other” day … time flies!

Because time flies, as God’s people, we need to bring glory to God through behaviour, conduct and service … because we never know how quickly “our” personal time will fly past!

Did Peter have something like this in mind when he penned (under inspiration) …

1Pe 4:7 The end of all things is near. Therefore be clear minded and self-controlled so that you can pray. 8 Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins. 9 Offer hospitality to one another without grumbling. 10 Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God’s grace in its various forms. 11 If anyone speaks, he should do it as one speaking the very words of God. If anyone serves, he should do it with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ. To him be the glory and the power for ever and ever. Amen.
